Through the Cadet Vocational Qualifications Organisation (CVQO), 234 (City of Durham) Squadron and Durham & Northumberland Wing are able to offer a variety of transferable qualifications in a range of subjects, which complement studies at school and college.
The following subjects are available:
- BTEC in Aviation Studies (achieved as part of Master Air Cadet classification)
- BTEC in Teamwork and Personal Development
- BTEC Diploma in Music
- Institute of Leadership & Management Level 2 Award
We also work towards a variety of St. John’s Ambulance First Aid awards & badges.
Cadets and staff are encourage to purse the following National Governing Body (NGB) awards:
- Kayaking & Canoeing (British Canoeing Union)
- Sailing, Powerboating & Windsurfing (Royal Yachting Association)
- Walking (Basic Expedition Leader, Walking Group Leader, Mountain Leader)
- Climbing (Single Pitch Award)
